Master Program Statistics and Data Science

Degree: Master of Science (M.Sc.).
Possible start: winter term or summer term

For students with a degree in Statistics or Data Science as part of their major, minor, or self-selected concentration (minimum 6 semesters of study).


The illustration shows the five main specializations within the Master’s program. Students wishing to obtain EMOS certification awarded by Eurostat must further specialize within the Social Statistics and Data Science or Machine Learning specialization.

All regulations in detail can be found in the Examination and Study Regulations, which can be downloaded from this page. For new enrollments, the Examination and Study Regulations (“Prüfungsordnung”) from 2021 apply. To our knowledge, the application deadline for the winter semester 2022/23 is July 15, 2022. The application portal will be activated as of May 1st, 2022. Applicants who neither have German citizenship nor are considered as "Bildungsinländer" must additionally submit an application for admission to studies to the LMU International Office, deadline for which is also July 15, 2022.
